Live the Lifestyle Logo Design

Here is a new logo design I made for the Live the Lifestyle: Weight Management program. This logo was a fun one to do. Most of the challenge was in figuring out the best way to transition the colors from green to blue, spacing in general, and other little design elements. I did get to play a bit more with the gradient tool in Adobe Illustrator. For the concept, the client wanted to use a tree design and incorporate measuring tape into the design. She also wanted to make the 'L' from Lifestyle merge with the tree.Color-wise we tried some variations and decided that green and blue best reflected the healthy and calm feel that the client was going for. I am very pleased with how it turned out. Keep your eye out for the logo, it has been on Facebook quite a bit!

Logo Design Work

Design work updates:

Here are some of the logo designs I have been working on lately. They were all sketched by hand and later developed in Adobe Illustrator. This program is the best for logo designs since you can re-size the images without them getting blurry.

*All logos are copyrighted to the clients who commissioned them from me, do NOT use them with out permission*

This is a design for Queen City Sports and Social Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. Here I was representing both the city and the activities of the club. This club meets to play team sports like kickball and football, as well as meeting socially to have a drink or two. The logo has a few versions for different sports and uses. The ball that the mascot holds is different for each sport. Fun and challenging logo to work on.

This next one is a logo design for the company RDM: Preservation and Revitalization. This design is for a local business in Richmond, Virginia that buys and restores various buildings. I really wanted to incorporate negative space into the design and I used it to create the white building in the center of the logo. Notice how the white building is created only with the edges of the other shapes around it. The colors of the logo are a reference to the positive energy of the company bringing buildings back to life and their push to 'go green' in their operations.

The next logo was made for a local company called Karnes Heating and Air Conditioning which is based out of the Richmond, Virginia area. The concept was to incorporate/combine the client's love of river sunsets, relaxation, and the heating and air theme. This was done with a stylized sunset and water line to illustrate a sunset. The warm and cool colors and wavy breaks in the sun are a nod to heating and air.

Here is a logo design for ABNIX: Delivery and Moving. This logo was designed for a local moving company in Richmond, Virginia before its start-up. The 'A' letter behind the business name was designed to look like an angel, to reference the loved one the company was named after.

James Jean Presentation

For my Art Ed. class we have to give a presentation on a contemporary artist. For mine. I chose the painter/illustrator James Jean. I really love his work. His color choices, surrealist subjects, attention to detail and overall style really grab the eye and command attention. Jean has a totally unique way of approaching his subject matter and I find his work really inspiring. His website is www.jamesjean.com and his blog is www.processrecess.com. His blog is really great; Jean posts the stages of his art from thumbnail to final piece. It also goes back several years into his portfolio.

Well anyway here is the layout I made as a guide for my presentation board. The board is one of those that has three panels and stands up on its own. I also made a design for the back of the board, but I won't be using it because of the cost of printing the images large enough to fit the board.

This is the front of the display board that I will be using.

This is the design for the back that I won't be able to use. I thought it looked pretty cool though.

That's all for now

Birthday Invitation Design

My niece has her 1st B-Day coming up and my sister and I have been looking through birthday invites, mainly the photo ones, so we could show how she has grown over the past year. Most of the ones we could find for girls had boring designs or were way too expensive. So I decided to design a custom card, upload it to overnightprints.com, and order from them for a much more reasonable price. Plus since I've ordered from them in the past, I know their work turns out well.

I'm planning to sketch out the design tomorrow and create the invite in Illustrator. My sister wants a princess theme, but simple crowns and wands are kind of boring, so I'm thinking of a bunny in a princess dress wearing a little crown. I want the head to be tilted a little with the crown at an angle. Since, the baby is turning one, I'll have one of the bunny's ears standing up and the other floppy. About 5 pics of my niece will be included, one big and the others smaller. I want to keep the color scheme simple, it will mainly pinks, purples, and maybe whites. I'll play with the design and colors more once I get started.

Expect sketches tomorrow and more process pics as the week goes on.

Web Site Design

Here is a design I came up with for my illustration website last spring. I'm taking a web design course now, so I should have it live by the end of the semester. I'm thinking of revisiting the design though, I think it should be more visually interesting. I'm not sure what I'll end up adding, but I'll post some different versions later.
